  • In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 cup of water. Stir to mix.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat. Gently bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
  • Continue to stir until the sugar has completely dissolved, which should take about 5-7 minutes.
  • Once dissolved, remove the saucepan from heat and allow the syrup to cool completely.
  • Transfer the cooled simple syrup to a clean, airtight container (such as a glass bottle or jar) and store it in the refrigerator.

  • Shelf Life: Homemade simple syrup can last for 2-3 weeks in the refrigerator.
